Under 10′s Chelmsford Tournament

Perry Street U10?s finalists at Chelmsford
Perry Street U10?s didn’t quite follow the success of their end of season Broomfield tournament win (see below) but did incredibly well to reach the final of the Chelmsford tournament. Conceding only 2 goals on the way to the final, and scoring more than three times that themselves, the tournament included a superb penalty save by Charlie Strickland, and a sublime extra time goal by Josh Gray which gained us entry to the final. However, it has to be clear this was a solid team performance and every member deserves a mention, so well done; Tom Picton, Jordan Cook, Toby Hammond, Tom Weston, Charlie Strickland, Ewan Sturgeon, Fynn Nuding and Josh Gray.

Perry Street U9’s triumph at Broomfield

Perry Street U9A team went to the Broomfield 5 a-side tournament on Saturday 25th June and came home with the winner’s trophy. In the group stages the team won two and drew their other two games. They qualified for the quarter finals as group winners. In the quarter final, despite going behind, they eased comfortably past Dagenham 4-1. They saved their best performance for the semi-final against Broomfield B, which they won 6-0. The final, against Broomfield A whom Perry Street had already played in the group matches, was settled by a first half strike from Josh Gray and a cool finish in the second half from Tom Weston. In between the goals, Charlie Strickland pulled off a fine save to keep his team in front. Late in the game, Ewan Sturgeon made a courageous block of a thunderbolt shot which quelled any chance Broomfield had of getting back in the game. Charlie Strickland was named player of the tournament for a number of fine saves and for only conceding 4 goals in seven games. Josh Gray was top marksman on the day with an impressive 12 goals. During the course of the tournament every outfield player scored at least once in what was in a fine all-round team effort. It was the U9’s second tournament win of the season, the other one came when they swept all before them at Hannakins Farm in September. Perry Street’s victorious team consisted of; Tom Picton, Jordan Cook, Toby Hammond, Tom Weston, Charlie Strickland, Ewan Sturgeon and Josh Gray.
